For tax professionals

Clients who are ready to file. Not just leads.

FileMax Tax collects everything a return needs — intake, documents and signed consent — and hands the case to a licensed preparer in the client's state. You review, prepare and file.

Complete intake

Personal info, filing status, dependents, income, bank details — collected before you ever see the case.

Documents in one place

W-2s, 1099s, ID and last year's return, uploaded by the client and stored encrypted.

IRS §7216 consent, signed

Every client signs the IRS-format consent to disclosure before their file reaches you.

Your own team

Add preparers and staff under your account. They only see your firm's clients.

How it works

  1. 1
    Apply

Your firm, PTIN, credential and the states you serve. Takes 3 minutes.

  2. 2
    We verify

We check your PTIN and license, usually within 1–2 business days.

  3. 3
    Pick cases

See ready cases in your states — without client names until you take one.

  4. 4
    Review & file

Work the case in your dashboard and file with your own software and EFIN.

Coming for the next filing season

Automatic reading of W-2s and 1099s confirmed by the client, the Form 8867 due-diligence questions answered in advance, and a calculated draft return with a line-by-line worksheet — so a simple case becomes review and file.

Who can join

  • A valid IRS PTIN for everyone who prepares returns
  • CPA, Enrolled Agent, attorney, AFSP participant, or PTIN holder — IRS letters and audits go only to CPAs, EAs and attorneys
  • An EFIN (yours or your firm's) to e-file
  • Based in the United States
  • A written information security plan (FTC Safeguards Rule) and a reply to new clients within 24 hours

Applying is free. Partner pricing is announced before the season; founding partners get the best rates.
